Isle of Wight's Coach Party unveil stellar banger “Space”
Chess Club signees Coach Party have released “Space”, a galactic bop in anticipation of the four-piece's debut EP Party Food.
Following their recent grunge-pop bops “Oh, Lola” and “Breakdown”, Coach Party intensify their grip across the indie landscape with their latest firecracker, “Space”. The track bolsters the foursome’s angsty sound as the band prepare for the release of their debut EP Party Food this summer.
A tumultuous end to a relationship looms over the track as the band stridently addresses the issues break-ups can invite. With a sombre and relatable narrative, Coach Party's sharp, in-your-face instrumentation provides the perfect foundation for lead singer and bassist Jess Eastwood’s audacious vocals.
Eastwood explains, “Space’ is about the emotion of putting your feelings on the line and how tormenting someone can be when you break up. The control someone has over you when they know something you don’t want others to know.”
The accompanying video offers vivid animated visuals thanks to friend of the band Cam Guy. “We wanted the video for “Space” to distract from the seriously dark tones of the song with a cartoon about a load of animals on a distant planet,” Eastwood says. “Cam gives an insight into how a dog army and cat army would fight over a new planet, before coming together thanks to a common enemy.”
Eastwood adds, “‘Space’ is the step in a different direction that we've been wanting to go in for a while. We feel like it portrays some anger in emotional torment you go through when putting your feelings on the line. We felt like we couldn’t produce that emotion perfectly without it being too dark, so our friend made a wicked animation for us of a dog army vs a cat army, what the cinematic industry has been craving for years.”
This restless new cut has a clear purpose: to strengthen the band's platform and push them in a new direction, proving that the foursome are cultivating the perfect grunge-pop sound.
