Monday getting you down? Finding it hard to shake that start-of-the-week sluggishness? Wondering how you’ll make it to lunch? Well, it sounds like you might well need some chunky Scottish pseudo-glam.
‘Real Men Take Speed’ is the first track from Clean George IV‘s debut album God Save The Clean. Truly, I don’t think I’ve ever seen a collection of three worse names for anything. Make it past the disastrous nomenclature, though, and you’ll find a hilariously brazen attempt at retooling late ’70s power chord glam, with added DFA1979-style scuzzy bass and unexpected time signatures. It’s gloriously unfashionable, and all the better for it.
God Save The Clean is out today on Tenement Records. According to the press release Clean George IV has just been sued by Kraftwerk, so I imagine he would appreciate it if you bought a copy.
