Rising pop star Charlotte Lawrence reveals shimmering new heartbreak anthem "Slow Motion"
Her first release since "Joke's On You", her contribution to the Birds Of Prey soundtrack, Los Angeles raised Lawrence shares her raw take on heartbreak.
In 2017 Charlotte Lawrence began her musical journey with the release of a slow-burning cover of the Grease classic "You're the One That I Want". 2018 saw the release of her debut EP Young, an impressive six-track collection introducing the singer/songwriter's talents confidently and coherently. Since then Lawrence's searing honesty has found its way into single after single. "Slow Motion" is her latest and sees Lawrence getting reflective.
Co-written with Andrew Watt, Jason Evigan and Ali Tamposi, Watt and Evigan also handle the production. Explaining the story behind "Slow Motion", Lawrence says "[it] is about knowing a relationship has to end, and how hard the heartbreak is and will continue to be..." But the new song also sees her flip this narrative, she adds that it also came from a place of "having the confidence and strength to know that removing yourself from a bad situation is the right thing to do."
A masterclass in emotional pop, "Slow Motion" lets Lawrence break down her feelings and come out the other side, stronger than ever. With its dark edges and euphoric flickers, this latest addition to this rising star's growing songbook once again showcases her skill in creating irresistible earworms whether she's dealing with heavy ballads, bright, bouncing bangers or anything in between.
