This week Chairman Kato celebrates the release of his latest EP, Science & Romance. It marks a significant step forward for the London producer; a collection of dense, highly focused, often overwhelming tracks that bring to mind sprawling subterranean encampments.
‘Total Internal Reflection’ doesn’t appear on that record, but it is no less compelling. It’s a claustrophobic, blizzard-coated track, like driving with your headlights dipped through the heaviest snow imaginable. Snippets of wobbling melody appear every so often, suggesting the presence of a whole other piece of music just out of sight.
Science & Romance is out now on Awkward Movements. Stream ‘Total Internal Reflection’ below.
