Camille Delean hushes anxiety with soothing new single “Go Easy”
Canada’s Camille Delean follows up recent release “Fault Line (Late July)” with new single “Go Easy”, the second to be taken from her forthcoming album Cold House Burning.
The second single to be shared from her anticipated second record Cold House Burning, Canadian singer-songwriter Camille Delean unveils her new outing “Go Easy”. Released via the artist-run label E-Tron Records, “Go Easy” is a gentle and soothing cut of gorgeous indie folk.
Much like previous single “Fault Line (Late July)” there is a rich array of instrumentation, yet it is placed economically, allowing for the song to gracefully unfold; brushes of saxophone and piano are laid softly amidst the striking bass and drums that lead the song, punctuated by glimmers of electric guitar.
Like a kind breeze, there is a leisurely pace to “Go Easy” and Delean’s flair for songs that pulse and swell creates a calming flow - like the rise and fall of a tide, or the filling and exhaling of lungs. “Go easy on the world, it’s only turning,” Delean urges, a suggestion of grace that feels more needed than ever. It is a comforting embrace of a song, and one that hushes anxieties if only for a moment.
The accompanying video for “Go Easy” sees Delean dressed all in white, set against painted white walls and white sheets hung on a line. She sings with eyes fixed pointedly, alternating between the camera and to some point past it, as she outstretches her hands with open palms. It is moving in its simplicity, suggesting an honesty and tenderness that is transfixing.
“This one is the antidote,” Delean says of the single. “Much of the record came from a place of deep tension and unease; ‘Go Easy’ is the soothing force, the light at the end of the tunnel, a calm urge to look beyond the personal (and human) experience. There is a layer of fluidity over the heavy drums to latch on to… a helping hand in getting off the ground.”
