Bullion has an uncanny knack for decade-hopping. His excellent You Drive Me To Plastic effortlessly skates around the second half of the 20th Century, cribbing from a dozen different countries as it does so.
But while latest single ‘It’s All In Sound’ has a ’70s-indebted verse and an ’80s-indebted sax solo, it is perhaps the first of Bullion’s releases for which the focus is firmly on the sheer quality of the songwriting. The scrapbook sampling approach of YDMTP has gone, and in its place is a meticulously constructed, distinctly English pop song.
‘It’s All In Sound’ is taken from the Love Me Oh Please Love Me EP, out on Deek on 7 May.
