Listen: BROODS - "Mother & Father"
Thanks to a certain world-dominating teenager, New Zealand has been cemented onto the music map. Lorde’s intergalactic rise has opened people’s eyes to Australasian exports and Auckland siblings BROODS are set to follow in her talented young footsteps.
Following on from their impressive self-titled EP - centred-around “Bridges” that got us hot under the collar at the back-end of 2013 - Georgia and Caleb Nott have released their most radio-ready cut to date.
Again teaming-up with Joel Little who produced Lorde’s critically-acclaimed debut album, Pure Heroine, the young duo echo the likes of Sky Ferreira in this new song. It builds through gentle, washy verses into a powerhouse pop chorus; “I don’t wanna wake up lonely / I don’t wanna just be fine” Georgia belts out with a punchy emotion that translated so brilliantly in their recent live outing at London’s Madame JoJo’s.
If anyone was in any doubt that BROODS are ready to transcend the blogosphere and hit the mainstream, “Mother & Father” is a monstrously moreish reason for them to change their minds.
“Mother & Father” is released on 11 August via Polydor Records.
