Billie Black explores the dangers of love on beautifully stark piano ballad "Hung Up"

Billie Black is a pretty unstoppable talent. Her latest release, "Hung Up", is yet more evidence that everyone should pay attention to the 19-year-old Londoner.

Taken from her second EP, "Hung Up" is a piano ballad that masters the art of simple though powerful songwriting. The track's core five-note piano hook and mimicking vocal line might sound unremarkable on paper but the pairing makes for a hefty two-pronged attack on the gambles of love.

"I'm hung up on you/despite of the danger/I could fall right through/risk my life for a stranger", Black sings as scuttling beats trickle in and harmonies run up and down-scale. Just under the surface there's a small resemblance of Alicia Keys "Fallin'": full of warm-bodied soul despite the skeletal framework.

"Hung Up" features on Teach Me EP, out now.
