Big Fox – Boring Ones (Azure Blue remix) [Best Fit Premiere]
“I am the boring one. The one who leaves the party” – not since Jens Lekman’s ‘Black Cab’ has there been a lyric so simple yet able to ring so true when talking about social failings. South Sweden singer-songwriter Big Fox (Charlotta Perers) lends her smooth vocals over a bossa nova-lite backing on the original version of ‘Boring Ones’; which is all pretty and fine, but it’s Azure Blue who takes the skeleton of the song and, whilst keeping with its icy cool framework, re-imagines it as a deluxe reverb drenched synth orgy (with all the trimmings).
It doesn’t really go anywhere – but that’s sort of the point. More of a meditation than a remix – Azure Blue uses his soft touch to create a real delicate and astute five minutes.
Catch Azure Blue open for FAYE next week at Hoxton Bar & Kitchen. Full details here.
