Bastille x Lunice – Bad Blood [Best Fit Premiere]
Lunice has been busy. In the space of just a few weeks the producer has turned in an Azealia Banks collaboration, a new EP with Hudson Mohawke as TNGHT, and a contribution to Diplo’s excellent recent ‘And Friends’ show on Radio One, apparently barely stopping to draw breath.
And for his next trick Lunice has reworked ‘Bad Blood’, the forthcoming single from Bastille. In the Mad Decent man’s hands the track is shorn of its pomp, its excess weight is whittled away, and in its place we get vaporous vocal loops and vertiginous percussion, with triplet hats acting as the string holding together distant, bin-lid cracks and shuffling kicks. It’s an exercise in restraint, never quite veering onto the dancefloor but constantly threatening to do so.
‘Bad Blood’ is out 20 August on Virgin. Stream the remix below.
