Bradford Cox is one of those artists about whom people seem to get very worked up. His distinct oddness, combined with his undeniable way with a tune, has elevated him towards semi-deity status in the eyes of some of those who like their pop music served with a generous portion of pseudo-mysticism.
Cox’s next release is Parallax, the forthcoming second album under his Atlas Sound moniker. ‘Te Amo’, the second track from that record, is watery, lighter than air, like floating on huge melodic bubbles. Cox’s lyrics are a characteristic mix of melancholy and vague otherworldliness, referencing “strange dreams” and perpetual depression. Cheery, no?
Parallax is out 7 November on 4AD. Download ‘Te Amo’ below.
