The Line of Best Fit
As if one Norwegian singer songwriter wasn’t enough this festive season, allow us to introduce you to Astrid S. And she’s not flogging you John Lewis gear.
Fresh from collecting the Best Norwegian Act award at the MTV EMAs, Astrid S has released “Paperthin”, a delicate whisper of a track that all but floats through its three minute run time. With desperate yet defiant lyrics (“you make me feel like a piece of art / hanging on your wall just like my heart”) the 19-year-old demonstrates once again that the wealth of talent over in Scandinavia seems to have no bounds. Accompanied by a simple piano chord progression, “Paperthin” shines a spotlight on the emotion present in Astrid S, resulting in a track that is perfect for reflecting on the past twelve months. Who needs Noel Gallagher’s knock offs when you can write songs like this? You can check out “Paperthin” below. Words: Alex Jones
