AMA LOU reveals her intricate storytelling with euphoric offering “NOT ALWAYS”
18-year-old AMA LOU emerged earlier this year with her politically driven debut “TBC”. Since then she’s ventured to New York to record her follow-up single “NOT ALWAYS”.
“I was in NYC at the time working with an amazing producing duo called Likeminds. The song was born, the beat inspired the way I wrote it but it was a very natural process," says AMA LOU.
Entwined with soulful R&B and intricate electronica, “NOT ALWAYS” sees the north London newcomer delve into a euphoric sound, all driven by the enthralling beat.
At just 18, AMA LOU is both refreshing and perceptive, presenting a track that at first seems to be the end of a relationship, but is instead a self reflective offering that reiterates AMA LOU’s sinuous storytelling.
“I grew up around musicians so I always had access to it; I started writing when I was 11 and haven’t stopped since."
With the likes of Nirvana, Otis Redding, Destiny Child and Patsy Cline amongst her influences, there’s no doubt AMA LOU has found a tasteful sound.
As for future plans, AMA LOU plans to keep us on the edge of our seats, "Keep an eye out in 2017."
