Ainslie Wills' stunning vocals take flight on new single "Drive"
Having already enjoyed plenty of radio success in her native Australia, Ainslie Wills continues to turn heads and ears with her progressive pop stylings.
Joined by Lawrence Folvig, Wills' gorgeous, elastic voice over-scores complex and instantly catchy constructs. Wills' forward thinking approach to pop has earned her slots supporting the likes of Michael Kiwanuka, Lianne La Havas, Leon Bridges and Hiatus Kaiyote.
Now, Ainslie Wills is readying the Oh The Gold EP (released on 2 September) with "Drive". On the track, she confronts internal strife with the power of her seemingly limitless vocals as an ever evolving lead guitar drives the inventive melodies towards a powerhouse crescendo.
"'Drive' was born out of the need to find clarity in my mind at a particular point in time," shares Wills.
"I needed to escape the everyday in order to gain perspective and find some sort of resolve. The outro of the song is where that resolve takes place as heard in the lyric 'airing it out against the dark black blanket/feed the sky and you will survive.
"'Drive' was also the first song to be recorded with Matt Redlich - producer extraordinaire. It was a 'test the water' type scenario to see how well we could all work together and what we could come up with."
