Within the great panoply of silly names happened upon by the world’s guitar bands, ‘All The Bros Say’ by Abadabad must surely occupy a prominent position. Pair it with the delightful ’80s-action-film-meets-internet-art cover up there, and you have a special prospect indeed.
Thankfully, the rest of Abadabad’s aesthetic choices are rather more sensible. ‘All The Bros Say’ sits firmly in the surf-rock bracket that is currently so in vogue, but the ease with which the Massachusetts outfit impart their peculiarly East-Coast-college-town brand of melancholia lifts them well above their spring reverb peers. It’s an effortlessly earwormy track, but it’s not even the best thing on their forthcoming debut EP, The Wild – a hazy, tape-sparkle record that does its best to encapsulate the concept of ‘bittersweet’ in seven short tracks.
The Wild is out 11 September. In the meantime, stream ‘All The Bros Say’ below.
