The first of a new bi-weekly series, the Best Fit Mix will feature a specially curated selection of tracks from a wide variety of artists and producers with an aim to tap into their influences and unearth some hidden gems.
Kicking things off is Prince Rama. Hot off the debut of their film ‘Never Forever’, the Brooklyn group Prince Rama has assembled a compilation of sounds that, much like the band, defy all classification and occupy a universe that is wholly their own.
This mix is an archive of transcendental tones lost to time, a collection of sonic artifacts resuscitated from decayed magnetic tape and rescued from the attics of temples across the world. These sounds are culled from the fringes of the Krishna Consciousness movement, and are but a small selection from Prince Rama’s deep collection of private press Hare Krishna tapes. Represented here are Russian techno-swamis, disco children’s choirs, devout desi-divas; all ripped from crumbling cassettes, saturated with pure unalloyed devotion.
Prince Rama will appear at the Dublin edition of the Camden Crawl, taking place between May 3-5. The festival also features performances from Echo & The Bunnymen, Tropics, Dirty Beaches, The Black Lips, Darkstar, WIFE, Big Deal and more. Further info can be found via the official Camden Crawl website.
