Art of Noise: Mary Epworth's Guide to Psych
Psych doesn’t make enough of an appearance anymore. You might hear it drifting over the back of a cider advert, or stumble upon it while watching a re-run of The Old Grey Whistle Test, but as a genre, we don’t talk about it enough. That doesn’t mean that its influence isn’t spread far and wide though the music we do listen to on a regular basis however, and one artist has taken it upon herself to provide a crash course to the genre in the form of this Art of Noise playlist. We welcome Mary Epworth who has carefully collated this selection of Psych tunes to transport us back to a time of kaleidoscopic colours, sunshine and plentiful Rhodes.
Mary has a collection of remixes of her acclaimed single ‘Black Doe’ due out on 21 April, ahead of the release of her debut album (recorded above a brothel in East Berlin, no less) in June, so while you’re waiting for those, dip your toes into this playlist, space out man and enjoy.
