Zola Jesus shares harrowing glitched-out rework of "Go (Blank Sea)" from Xanopticon
Experimental electronic artist Zola Jesus has shared a remix of her pop heavy-hitter "Go (Blank Sea)" courtesy of Xanopticon.
Arca and Blanck Mass are obvious terror-strewn comparisons. Jesus' voice crawls through the glittery glitchery, scrambling to stay afloat in a deluge of digital scratches and claw marks - it's a world away from the original track, which bore resemblances to Rihanna's dark pop tones. It's not a remix with techno thumps and a perpetual uhn-tiss in the foreground, but rather a total overhaul of the cut's sonic complexion.
Speaking about the remix, Nika Danilova (Zola Jesus) says:
"After hearing Xanopticon for the first time, everything else started to sound like static. As a longtime fan of Xanopticon, i have often fantasized what it would sound like to collide our two sonic worlds. I’ll never understand how he creates (as hard as I try,) but that’s the beauty of it. he architects galaxies of sound you can get totally lost in. It is with huge honor and excitement that I announce this remix from one of the most underrated artists of our generation."
"Go (Blank Sea)" features on Zola Jesus' latest album Taiga.
