Listen: Young & Sick – “Heartache Fetish”
Young & Sick is a music and art project by a man simply known as Nick, based in LA, with a talent not only for creating crisply produced jams, but also for sharp, stylised artwork.
Making artwork for the likes of Foster The People and Robin Thicke, Young & Sick strongly intertwines his music with his art. So it’s no wonder the imagery used for his latest release, the neo blue-eyed soul of “Heartache Fetish”, is a crystallised, rock-solid heart.
The track is a soulful bit of pop and RnB, peppered with refreshing keyboards and thirst-quenching beats. The harmonising vocals only add to the almost spiritual experience, with a smooth chorus in which all of the voices sensually merge together. Dwelling in the familiar theme of unrequited, addictive love, the song cleverly tailors its musical mood to the torment of the lyrics.
“Heartache Fetish” is the second single off Young & Sick’s soulful self-titled debut LP, out 8 April via Harvest Records.
