Listen: Young Magic – “Holographs”
Brooklyn-based duo Melati Malay and Isaac Emmanuel, aka Young Magic, stream the lovely chillwave of “Holographs”, taken from their forthcoming second album, Breathing Statues.
Hailing from Australia and Indonesia, there’s small whispers of the duo’s worldly upbringing in “Holographs”. The track opens and closes with waves of Oriental-sounding harp, baked through the middle with a sunny trippyness. Showing their proficiency and inventiveness with samples, loops and beats layered on top of one another, which creates a blurry warmth, the duo soon deliver a harmony-rich chorus that is doused in hushed soars and swoops. The chorus is the indisputable highlight, and raises the bar yet further following their brilliant debut LP, Melt.
Breathing Statues is out on 6 May via Carpark Records.
