
Post-punk trio Witching Waves pack a powerful punch on tumultuous new track "Eye 2 Eye"
The London-based group unleash a fiery blast of white-hot urgency in the warm up to their third album Persistence.
Founded by lead vocalist and drummer Emma Wigham and guitarist Mark Jasper, Witching Waves have continually made their mark on the London DIY scene over the years, harnessing a reputation as a fierce live act since as early as 2013.
However, in late 2016, the pair recruited Estella Adeyeri as their new bass player and from that point onwards, Witching Waves began to enter into a new chapter of their existence, as they became fired up with a relentless creativity that has cumulated in their third full-length effort.
On their latest offering, the prolific post-punk leaders are poignant, sharp and unapologetic. "Eye 2 Eye" is a track that is whipped up by the most incessant and intoxicating energy that perfectly captures the magic of their live performances. There is a tension and immediacy that comes through in how the track was recorded; an inescapable rawness that lifts the song to a whole new level and only adds to the excitement that pummels you with every note.
From the first cutting guitar riff to the way that Wigham and Jasper's vocal arrangements ricochet against each other, the track is nothing short of an adrenaline-filled three minute blast of thrilling post-punk energy that perfectly sets the scene for what is to come with the new album.
