Willie J Healey unleashes another up-close and personal anthem in new single “Would You Be”
“Would You Be” is an invigorating three minutes of lo-fi guitar and heart-on-sleeve lyrics that perfectly encapsulates the mindset of Willie J Healey.
Oxford was never going to be the perfect fit for Willie J Healey. Although now 22 years old, the musical misfit has spent the majority of his adolescent years writing and recording songs in his garage, creating songs that tells tales of alienation and escape – recordings such as “HD Malibu”, “Saturday Night Feeling” and the brilliant single “Pipedreams”. This yearning to go bigger and bolder in life is most evident in new single “Would You Be”. The opening lyric “I’m alive but I’m barely living” perfectly underlines his sentiment. It’s a song that distinctly speaks to a misplaced youth generation, resonating with those who are still trying to find their way in the world as they move into young adulthood.
Musically, “Would You Be” is a blissful burst of raw electric guitar, pulsating bass notes and warped rockabilly vocals. It’s a refreshing combination that helps Healey stand out from the crowd. There’s plenty more to come from this eccentric and talented artist.
