William Doyle (fka East India Youth) releases new album in aid of Mind mental health charity

William Doyle, formerly East India Youth, has shared a new album under his own name with all proceeds going to mental health charity Mind.

The Dream Derealised is a mostly instrumental album recorded in Brighton over summer. This is the first new material to come from Doyle since he hung up his suit and tie earlier this year, announcing an indefinite hiatus to his work as East India Youth.

"These nine abstract and lo-fi pieces were recorded during the summer when focusing on creating them helped guide me through a difficult period of anxiety, panic, and a regular dissociative feeling called derealisation," Doyle says.

"This was made at a time when doing something creative in a quick and immediate fashion felt vital," he continues, "and doing so helped carry me to a new place. I’m releasing them now as a cathartic measure, and as a message for others who may be going through difficult times themselves."

"What I told myself at the time," he adds, "what I can tell you now: You are not in danger. You are not going insane. You are not alone."

The Dream Derealised is out now, with all proceeds being donated to Mind.
