Shadowy Swedish producer WDL unveils soulful new track "Redline" featuring Pauline Kamusewu
Other than discovering that his name is Johan Wedel, there's not much background to Swedish producer WDL other than to say his debut album is out today.
No Wings Airline features contributions from fellow Swedes Elliphant,, Mawe and on "Redline", the soulful voice of Pauline Kamusewu.
Featuring a terrific R&B piano line over soft beats, the track really comes to life when Kamusewu starts to sing. With a vocal that's equal parts old school Motown and 21st century pop, she shows beautiful control with soft verses and then lets her voice soar in the chorus as WDL drops in synth triggers and woozy electronic hums. If you need to remember Kamusewu's name, then WDL's will be inescapable by the end of the year.
