Watch: Young Karin - "Sirens"
Icelandic duo Young Karin continue to mesmerise with their charming off-kilter pop.
Celebrating their win at last week's Icelandic Music Awards (for debut of the year), Logi Pedro Stefansson and Karin Sveinsdottir return with the official video for "Sirens" - one of the many highlights from last year's EP n1.
A slightly unsettling clip, the footage filmed against a backdrop of peculiar wax figures sees Karin performing with a breezy effortless cool. Logi Stefansson talks of the inspiration behind the video: "The Icelandic wax museum from 1951 has mostly been in the storage room of the National Museum of Iceland for the last 50 years. It's really weird looking and fun, and the lack of women really shows the patriarchy in society at the time. Karin, as a young strong independent woman, is a great contrast to the old generals and presidents in the wax museum and from there it all started."
n1 is out now via Bella Union sister label Pannonica. Head here for more information.
