Stop me if you've heard this one before: a precocious young New Zealander cranks out soulful crooners over spare beats, dipping into lyrical themes that intimate wisdom beyond their nineteen years. Despite the similarities (including a shared manager), Auckland's Thomston is not Lorde, but his latest offering "Collarbones" is an indication that his star may soon rise to meet hers.
Written as the youngster struggled with a friend's developing eating disorder, "Collarbones" is a stunning display of vocal prowess; each note seems to bubble over with empathy. Watch the video below, and make sure to catch Thomston at The Great Escape.
