Released this week, ‘Gascarene Sound’ stands out with delicate, indulgent vocals incorporated into strings and synths. The ambience proves intense, building in suspense and depth toward the final two minutes where synths, strings and a compelling electronic beat clash together, creating an outburst of ecstasy.
An outstanding track that manages to make slow-burning instrumentals sound utterly thrilling. File this next to Deptford Goth and even the more atmospheric moments of The Maccabees’ expansive, moodier third album.
