Watch: Siinai - "Vasikka" [Premiere]
Finnish psychedlic outfit Siinai have unveiled their new video for "Vasikka", the latest single to be taken from their concept record Supermarket. The video is directed by Best Fit's Sébastien Dehesdin.
Speaking about "Vasikka", Siinai explained its role on the record, as well as its name:
"This is one of the oldest songs that made it to the record. Actually this was always very important piece of the Supermarket-puzzle in our heads. When we felt weak with other songs, we always could think "at least we have Vasikka". It rose to next level when we invited Johanna Tarkkanen to do vocals on it. Originally the song was called Golden Calf but we felt it was too biblical name for it (Vasikka means calf in finnish). Thanks to Valintatalo for letting us film the live video in their premises."
Director Dehesdin discussed the video's creation, adding:
"I have absolutely loved the band since their first album Olympic Games. I really respect their 'themed' and uncompromising approach in making a record. Since the second album is called Supermarket the location was an obvious choice, but we wanted to add something else that would transcend the store shelves and underline the ethereal quality of the song, so we found a good spot near the sea in Helsinki, at sunset."
