Finnish outfit Siinai are sharing their otherworldly visuals for new single "Jonotus", taken from 2014 LP Supermarket.
A piece of semi-serene ambience, "Jonotus" coasts through hymnal harmonies and beams of white-light. Every now and then keys punctuate the walls of noise, but never enough to distract from the allure that Siinai have assembled.
The track is set to a piece of video art by Tuomas A. Laitinen called Azure Dune (for J. G. Ballard). Writing on YouTube, the band spoke about the track and Laitinen's piece, and how they worked together:
"[the piece] is a mysterious, possibly menacing dune landscape quakes like the sea beneath an infinite sky. It tells of deep time, of resources hidden within the strata of the globe, and of their gradual exhaustion. In the work’s imagery the metallic ore needed to manufacture copper is fused with a desert landscape. This is a hypnotic sight that evokes images of what might be the true dimensions of our material and digital reality."
