The Local and The Line of Best Fit’s quiet day out in Bethnal Green turned out some excellent performances from all concerned. Fortunately we managed to sneak a few of the acts upstairs to a nearby studio, and get a quiet track from the committed to celluloid.

The results of these mini sessions will be drip fed to visitors to Best Fit and The Local.tv in the coming weeks.

First up, New Zealander Hollie Fulbrook AKA Tiny Ruins, with ‘Reasonable Man’.

Dad Rocks! is a project birthed by Icelander-living-in-Denmark Snævar Njáll Albertsson in the beginning of 2010. It’s as brilliant solo as it is with 9 piece band.

Lancastrian Rob St John plays drawn-out and ghostly songs underpinned by the creaks and drones of the harmonium, musical saw, fiddle, skittering drums, analogue synth and field recordings. He’s just released his first album Weald on 12” LP through excellent Edinburgh DIY label Song, By Toad, on which kraut, drone and psych influences are held together by peals of British folk guitar and wheeling gusts of rich, cryptic vocals.

RM Hubbert released new album 13 Lost and Found in late January to great critical acclaim. Produced by Alex Kapranos and featuring a whole smorgasbord of Glasgow’s finest. New single out late April featuring Aidan Moffat on vocals.

Singing (AKA Steven) Adams is closing in on National Treasure status. Leader of The Broken Family Band for nigh on three decades, he’s now in his 18th year as The Singing Adams, and we love him.

Matt Baynton is very well known for his role in telly’s Horrible Histories. He’s a dab hand at writing lovely songs too. Check Mrs Winchester from The Local’s Shhh sessions back in wintry February.
