Singer-songwriter Rhodes has yanked the ripcord on new cut "The Lakes", showing off both track and video.
Using a crosshatch of shiver-imbued guitars, tense piano and the odd spattering of percussion, Rhodes conveys intense darkness. It's actually even darker than first appears: "My love, there's nothing else we can do/and as the light fades in you/the stars will come out and guide us..." At first it's harrowing, then it's a severe case of flared-up hackles and sinking stomachs.
Rhodes' latest EP Home is out now, and he is currently squirrelled away working on his debut long-player.
