Watch: Mariam the Believer – Invisible Giving [Premiere]
One of the most eagerly awaited albums of 2013, Mariam Wallentin (one half of the massively acclaimed Swedish duo Wildbirds & Peacedrums) releases her debut album Blood Donation through Moshi Moshi on October 7 under the new moniker Mariam the Believer.
Just a couple of weeks ago, we revealed an exhilarating remix of lead track ‘Invisible Giving’ by occasional Lindstrøm collaborator Prins Thomas. Today, we’re thrilled to premiere the official video for ‘Invisible Giving’, a sprawling, eight minute multi-tempo mood shifter.
Accompanied by a suitably dark video, the track sets Mariam’s primal vocal against a gritty backbone of complex percussion, subtle organ flourishes and growling bass. “I’ll cut all the pain out like spooning out a grapefruit”, Wallentin howls, like an uncontrollable beast; the very act of listening resulting in a cathartic sigh of relief as the song reaches its climax.
Mariam the Believer is set to play a string of UK dates throughout September, including a show supporting Junip at London’s Shepherds Bush Empire (full list below).
