Watch: Lykke Li – Sadness Is a Blessing (Live on the Moon)
Swedish songstress Lykke Li has unveiled the third and final part of her Live on the Moon series of videos, with this stripped-back version of ‘Sadness Is a Blessing’, a highlight from her TLOBF Recommended album Wounded Rhymes.
Featuring just an acoustic guitar, tambourine and glockenspiel backing Li’s delicate vocals, the session offers an interesting perspective on the slow-burning tension of the album version, and surely there can be no better setting for the song’s celebration of loneliness than this. This is perhaps Li at her best; vulnerable, isolated, agaisnt the grain – as she sings, the Earth slowly rises in the background. This is Lykke Li where you sense she needs to be.
Thankfully, Lykke Li will be back from the moon to make a number of festival appearances this summer.
