Watch: Low Low Low La La La Love Love Love - "Burrow"
Kelly and Ellis Dyson, AKA Low Low Low La La La Love Love Love, have unveiled their video for new single "Burrow".
They've been recording, with and without other band members, just outside the Peak District since 2004, but with the release of Last, their fourth and final LP, they mark the end of a lengthy journey.
The video for "Burrow" sees a marionette busking to minimal success before seeking solace in travelling; as Kelly points out in an accompanying statement, it's quite a subtext-y piece of puppetry.
"Three months into work on an animated music video for the single Burrow, I couldn't handle the slow progress and the hours spent at the computer, so I tore it up and decided to start afresh with a new concept two months before the release was due. We didn't want to act in anything ourselves, so we settled on the idea of making a marionette; which gave us just a few weeks to make it and film.
I told our old bassist Hugo my plans, and he brought a bunch of vintage marionettes up from his basement. We picked one and went about stripping and decapitating it. We cut some wood from a fallen branch in a friend's garden, which I carved into Louis' face (we gave him a French name as the wood for his head came from french speaking Belgium). Anne-Marie tailored his clothes, made a little rucksack and a sleeping bag, then learnt to knit in a couple of days in order to make his woolly hat and scarf. I made a little guitar out of wood.
Filming locations included Brussels, Dover, Tanworth-in-Arden, Shrewsbury, Buxton & Glossop - mostly on a road trip between the place we were staying in Brussels and 'home' in Derbyshire. The script was loosely inspired by themes in my own life and themes on Last, which was written knowing that the band was finished, that I was tired of the music I was writing. I've since left the UK and have been travelling without a permanent address."
Last is out today (16 February) on Audio Antihero/Other Electricities. You can get the new single for free from here.
The band will play the Servant Jazz Quarters in London on Thursday (19 February) to launch the record. Owl & Mouse and Superman Revenge Squad will support, and more info can be found here.
