Watch: Hundreds - "Ten Headed Beast" [Premiere]
Hundreds have lifted the lid on the new music video for the third single from their Sinnbus debut, Aftermath. "Ten Headed Beast" gets a spectacular AV treatment from director Michael Klich.
Speaking about the song's relationship to the mythological hydra, vocalist Eva Milner says: "In the song it stands for all the conflicting perspectives and feelings in me. When you make an important decision, afterwards you try to find out if it's the right way... I tend to questioning my own decisions again and again. That's hard sometimes and to put the ten headed beast to silence isn't easy."
We were mightily impressed with the twosome's record, with reviewer Jon Putnam noting its malleability:
"It matters not what the Milners intend, the album is ripe for a number of interpretations – death, a failed relationship, maturation and uncertainty of the future. The ingenuity is how they have fashioned an album so obviously deeply personal but so approachable that listeners can project themselves into the narrative. While the songwriting has taken a great step forward in its continuity and narrative power, the most impressive leap for the duo is their sound. Cleverly not abandoning their Bjork-inspired electronic eclecticism, Hundreds have seamlessly woven in a bevy of natural elements – piano, strings, harp – to sit comfortably alongside and amongst the ever-present electronics."
The video itself sees Milner in a variety of surreal situations, from screaming in a forest, to watching bombs freeze mid-drop, to floating sea mines/submarines to a surreal banquet avec rainclouds, spectral appendages and a plethora of fruit.
The Hamburg duo are set to soon announce UK tour dates for April 2015.
