DEEDS returns with what could be seen as an early Christmas gift here at Best Fit. The one-man project led by Rollo Smallcombe, now joined by Kiri Inglis, follows its well-devised formula, which has been used in the previous tracks "Rushy" and "Video Dreams", of releasing an electronic-heavy instrumental along with a collage of cryptic yet stunning visuals.
"Disorder" stretches over five minutes, with a both visually and sonically suspenseful intro, before jumping into probably the most upbeat and cheerful composition released by DEEDS so far. The glowing synths and in general, the happier, forward-looking pace of the track, reminisce that end of the 80s, beginning of the 90s ambient house à la "Little Fluffy Clouds".
Although undoubtedly more carefree than usual, especially thanks to the added visuals that focus on nature and hydrological elements, there is still a certain clunkiness and analog rawness to the whole piece that is innately DEEDS-like. It is fair to say though that this is certainly DEEDS most uplifting composition to date.
