Watch: Cairobi - "Zoraide (rehearsal)" [Premiere]
Based in London, cosmopolitan quintet Cairobi (hailing from a combination of Austria, Italy, Mexico and France), are currently experiencing a major upswing in terms of exposure.
"Zoraide" was rife on airwaves towards the butt-end of 2014, giving them plenty of new fans, but with the band gearing up for both their first ever UK show and their debut EP, that fanbase may rise steeply.
They blend the off-kilter worlds of alt-J, Dutch Uncles, Animal Collective and The Flaming Lips, spewing a psychedelic post-pop noise that's laced with chart-bothering hooks and oddball experiments. Rhythms are fluid for Cairobi, especially on "Zoraide", where walls of grungegaze fuzz meet polyrhythms and tropical pop. You can check out an exclusive clip of them prepping the track for its UK premiere below.
Cairobi will release debut EP Distant Fire via Week Of Wonders on 23 February.
They are also set to play a sold-out debut UK show at Dalston’s Shacklewell Arms tomorrow (21 January).
