British synthpop artist Barli has unfurled her new single/video, "Vex", co-written with Ton Epoch and produced by Air.
The track is quietly brutal. Far from being the usual sleek velveteen veneer that modern soul wields, this is bristly, carniverous and rife with sinisterisms. It's a repentant ditty with mournful hooks that'll latch onto your ventricles like burr seeds on shoelaces.
