Listen: Viscous Liquid – “If I Go”
Viscous Liquid is the musical project of Reading-based Rhys Williams, a self-described “solitary cosmonaut” who stirs together elements of space rock, shoegaze and dream pop to blissful effect. The exceptionally catchy, “If I Go”, is the crown jewel of his most recent work, the Songs For Jealous Lovers EP.
This tune is all sun and surf, with fuzzed-out vocals, an easygoing melody and abounding reverb. Just when you think you’ve got this one all worked out, Williams kicks it into high gear and polishes things off with a rocking guitar solo and a truly gorgeous rush of noise. Think The Lemonheads-style jangliness mixed with the spacey textures of Ride.
“If I Go” is available now for purchase or streaming via Bandcamp. You can also listen to Viscous Liquid’s catalog via Soundcloud.
