Violet Skies and Molly Hammar confront the isolation of breakups on the heartbreaking "Lonely"
In a year where loneliness and isolation have reigned, Welsh powerhouse Violet Skies and Swedish star Molly Hammar are realising it's time to let go.
Vocalist, songwriter and producer Violet Skies released her second EP Lonely this spring as the global pandemic was just taking hold and we were getting used to the new normal.
Splitting her time between home in the UK and LA, Skies has made a name for herself in the studio and as a pioneer championing women in music through sheWrites, her collective which organises sessions and writing camps with all-female producers, songwriters and engineers.
Lonely's five tracks are underpinned by Skies' haunting vocals and storytelling lyrics, including "Nothing At Night" co-written by FINNEAS, but its title track really stood out.
Six months later "Lonely" is a getting a new lease of life with a new verse and exquisite harmonies from self-described "Swedish RnB angel" Molly Hammar. Punctuated by opulent strings, "Lonely" is effortlessly beautiful, yet raw as it exposes the searing pain of heartbreak.
Hammar and Skies originally connected via sheWrites camp last year and as Skies puts it "she’s taken over the world since then." Of the new version she adds "I adore Molly and her voice is just absolutely insane. I cried when I heard her vocal."
