Stockholm trio VERO style themselves sleek on new single “Heaven On Earth”
Bands’ careers can take them strange places, and Swedish trio VERO have lived more lives than most. Having struggled through label shenanigans during the making of their debut EP Saxophones And Danger Zones, they find themselves now in the process of another fresh start, one symbolised by new single “Heaven On Earth”.
Having found a new home with PNKSLM, “Heaven On Earth” is the latest single and title track from VERO's EP, and like earlier singles “Burning Ride” and “Waves Of Love” it marks a new era for the band’s sound. Previously they had a tendency to flit between genres, but “Heaven On Earth” anchors them in new-wave and alt-rock.
This is a song built to be sleek and smooth, but one that keeps its real edge beneath the surface, tapping into Sonic Youth’s style and sense of enigmatic cool. They’ve still got a pop band’s instincts though, and the streamlined, street rider rock of “Heaven Of Earth” winds its way into a winning chorus.
“'Heaven On Earth' is the benchmark of our forthcoming debut album,” say the band, “a defined sound summarizing genres we have played around with, now the perfect formula for VERO".
