Vera Blue proves that break-up are rarely easy on soaring gem "Mended"
Australian singer-songwriter Vera Blue shares stunning new single "Mended" ahead of her forthcoming debut album.
Celia Pavey is the woman behind Vera Blue, and through her arresting vocal delivery and breathtaking songwriting she can take you on a journey through some of her most personal experiences. Her debut EP Fingertips is packed full of vivid electro-balladry that plays to her strengths, with standout "Hold" managing to be almosy otherworldy in its excellence. Having risen to prominence through The Voice Australia, its clear that there's so much more to Celia Pavey, the artist, than simply her vocal prowess. Previous single "Private" proves there's vision and scope for exceeding excellence to continue as she roles out the foundations for her debut album.
Take "Mended" for example, which Pavey says is "a very special song". Explaining more of the simple, yet brooding ballad she adds that “it was about a relationship that I had a few years ago. It had been a little while since we’d ended it and we hadn’t made amends, said we were sorry. It’s funny because you think the song is going to be about resolution, but we haven’t quite made it there yet.”
Pavey's talent is unique and her music is refreshingfly raw and honest, and when it comes to her lyrics there's a relatability that's rare in pop music. With every release, Pavey manages to translate the acute intricacies of everyday feelings and experiences into something beautiful.
