"Dolores (The Awakening)" is a rolling, piano-led house jam from Vargas & Lagola
Stockholm's prime production duo Vargas & Lagola are back with a couple of new tracks. One drops next week, and we have one cracker for you today.
Following on from "Rolling Stone", Salem Al Fakir and Vincent Pontare (whose production and writing credits include Madonna, Katy Perry and Seinabo Sey) have dropped the vocals and soul for something a bit diffferent on "Dolores (The Awakening)".
With rolling piano chords which bridge the gap between Italo house and Latin rhythms, the track is a slow-build. Handclaps make up the percussion at first, but the layers slowly build with synths sounding like saxophones off in the distance. Just as you think a drop is coming, the duo throw in another layer of beats to make an irresistible groove. There's some very Copacabana-esque "ba-ba-bas" towards the end - along with flamenco sounds - just to top off the summer vibes. It's not groundbreaking, but it's as fun as heck.
