Listen: Vancouver Sleep Clinic – “Flaws”
Tim Bettinson records in his bedroom as Vancouver Sleep Clinic. The lush, atmospheric stylings of his work position the 17-year-old from Brisbane, Australia as a composer to watch.
“Flaws” is a gracefully produced and gently rhythmic track that combines delicate piano with ambient synthwork for a chilled-out vibe. Snapping fingers add a percussive physicality into the mix. The track’s ebb and flow is buoyed along by Bettinson’s chilly falsetto: a voice that soars to dizzying heights while remaining tethered to the song’s emotional core.
“Flaws” is taken from Vancouver Sleep Clinic’s debut EP, Winter. Slated for release on 10 March via VSC’s website, the release comes in advance of a performance at the SXSW festival in Austin, Texas.
