Ulrik Munther reflects on his childhood in playful new tune "C'est la vie"
Swedish singer/songwriter Ulrik Munther revisits fond memories from his childhood on bright new track "C’est la vie".
The new outing follows on from Munther’s April single "Man In Need", and sees the Swedish singer/songwriter and multi-instrumentalist reflect on the positivity and carefree attitude of being a child. The bright plucky guitar melody and playful, melodic ad-libs bounce off each other with ease, as Munther sings sincerely of his favourite childhood memories.
While the melody presents a playful, breezy tone, Munther yearns to be a child again, wanting to escape the negativities of reality as he sings, "I was free / Free to be anybody / Now I’m caught inside a no-machine / And I wanna feel, alright / Without taking any medicine."
"As kids we look up to adults," explains Munther. "But as an adult, I find myself being more and more inspired by kids. They are honest with their emotions, they ask for help when they need it. And they’re not afraid to try. Their minds are open and their perspectives are constantly changing."
He adds, "I can’t talk for everyone, but I’m pretty sure I’m not alone in feeling boxed in sometimes. Like it’s hard to change because I keep looking at my history. Telling myself that is who I am and feeling pressured to defend it, instead of letting it go and moving on. I think the world would be a better place, and people would be much happier if we didn’t define ourselves so much by our history, but rather by our willingness and ability to listen, learn and engage."
