Tungz try to break out of a routine on woozy psych-pop single "Go Out"
Bristol-based quartet Tungz are back with their bright, psych-pop tinged track "Go Out", a timely song that will resonate with people going stir crazy in the coronavirus pandemic.
"Go Out" follows on from March's "Can’t We Just Be Friends Again", and sees the Bristolian band utilise more woozy instrumentation to compliment their signature funk-pop foundation.
The bed of synths pave the way for Tungz's funky basslines present in their previous outings, as Nicky Green sings of being "bored" and "frustrated" while "trying to find some meaning" - a line that will resonate with those that have struggled to stay positive during the COVID-19 pandemic.
While "Go Out" appears bright and breezy with its funk-infused melodies and woozy electronica, the lyrics portray a more melancholic side to the track, as Green sings of trying "to listen to myself more" in order to break out of an anxiety-inducing routine.
Green says of their new single, "Jamie (Maier) and I spent eight months sofa surfing and sharing rooms while we were looking for a place and saving money to move to London. Because we were moving around so much the song ended up being written in four different places. I wrote it as a conversation with myself. It’s about carrying too much weight in your soul without realising and getting exhausted with a routine that’s no good for you."
