Another project shrouded in mystery and intrigue, London’s Tundra provides next-to-no background on his minimal website and spare social media channels.
We can’t help but wonder if the chic, cigarette-toking female plastered all-over Tundra’s online presence is the eponymous ‘Alice’ of today’s woozy, guitar-driven debut track. If she is, this girl holds a seriously special place in the gruff-toned newcomer’s heart. Weighting Ben Khan’s garish indie-funk synths with crunchy guitar riffs, blocky percussion and ominous bass thuds, Tundra sets his stall out between the gently whispered romanticism of The Cure and Khan’s altogether more louche take on 21st century love.
Hat’s off to Josh Holliday of Dots & Dashes for unearthing this one.
