Trunky Juno plunges into playful pop nostalgia on new track "So Cool"
Trunky Juno is back with "So Cool", his most playful bedroom pop anthem yet.
Nostalgia is a big focal point for Trunky Juno's music, whether it's TV shows and films ("Patrick Swayze"), food, or other music from the late '90s and early noughties.
"So Cool" is Trunky Juno's most zestful outing yet, and follows on from last year's "It's A Trip".
It sees the musician utilise fun, light-hearted lyrics with a breezy, slacker-pop melody that oozes with summer heat. Trunky's woozy falsetto vocals open the track, fading in with the lo-fi instrumentals that soon engulf the room with its playful charm. Trunky Juno sings of lay-ins and outings in a Chevy truck before hitting the first chorus, which is incredibly anthemic and transports the track to a California beach.
The anthemic track is undoubtedly catchy, and as the second verse commences Trunky Juno brings more summer nostalgia to the forefront, "Lets go to my garage / Turn the volume up / And put some Weezer on / Fuck the neighbourhood."
Discussing his new track, Trunky Juno explains, ""So Cool" is definitely the most silly and fun single so far. It came together really quickly as a very tongue in cheek, ironic take on pop music. It’s kind of like it’s a song from the late 90’s/early 2000s that everyone’s forgotten about, and can’t believe we ever liked in the first place? Kind of like Tom Green, or those Budwieser ads with the frog. Cringe inducing nostalgia, reminding you of when you thought you were so cool."
