Trunky Juno delivers woozy anthem "It's A Trip"
Trunky Juno has returned with a playful and woozy new anthem "It's A Trip".
"It's A Trip" follows on from earlier singles "Patrick Swayze" and "Small Town", and sees Trunky Juno carry on with his dog-orientated single artwork - this time using the very smiley Bruce.
The new single opens with a hazy nine-second intro that evolves multiple times, dissolving into an acoustic guitar melody before switching into a blissful pop verse.
Trunky Juno's soothing vocals eliminate any recollection of the lo-fi chaos that happened seconds before, as he sings smoothly over a simple pop beat. His slightly distorted vocals layer over synth beeps as "It's A Trip" soon morphs into a breezy summer track.
As the bridge builds to the chorus, Trunky Juno's vocals begin to mutate into a Flaming Lips-esque lullaby, delicately tracing over a muffled melody to amplify Trunky Juno's relatable lyrics. The build up is one of the most important parts of the track, as the musician prepares to unleash his most anthemic and glorious choruses to date.
"It's A Trip" is soon engulfed by a multicoloured whirlpool of playful sounds as the beat punches through the ceiling to unleash Trunky Juno's understated songwriting. He yells "Oh my god!" as if Wayne Coyne has just set off a confetti cannon in his face, and it's undeniable that Trunky Juno's chorus is one of the most infectious listens of the year.
The woozy melody nods to MGMT and The Flaming Lips, weaving unpredictably through hallucinogenic melodies to elevate Trunky Juno's remarkable bedroom pop to an arena level.
