TRQS indulges in hauntingly angelic R&B on new cut "MVIII"
Australia's TRQS fuses eerie, atmospheric melodies with her ethereal vocals on sultry R&B offering "MVIII".
Opening with a ghostly bed of synths that build to a crisp intro of TRQS' soulful voice, "MVIII" battles with the idea of having overwhelming feelings towards someone who only wants to sign up for a casual fling.
Laced with distant, washed out melodies, TRQS utilises her layered harmonies in the dream-like track to add to the idea of being second best, or fading in someone's memory, despite you wanting to connect with them.
TRQS has a lustful tone in her R&B-tinged vocals, as she dips in and out of whisper-like angelicness and powerfully unhinged bursts of vocals that encapsulate the burning desire of the track.
Speaking about her new offering, TRQS explains, "I was working with a producer out of Detroit who hit me up on Soundcloud. We’d started with the pre-chorus melody and built the song around the idea of a ‘mate’ or ‘m8’ (MVIII in roman numerals). It’s about a girl who has found a guy she’s really into but he’s only wanting something less serious. She's kind of oblivious to it until she starts seeing the signs of late night messages and him only interacting with her when he wants or needs something from her."
